Delete Your Account

Your right to delete. You have the right to permanently delete your GetNear account and all associated personal data at any time. This page explains exactly how to do it, what gets deleted, what is temporarily retained, and how to contact us if you need help.

Primary Method

Delete Your Account In-App

The fastest and easiest way to delete your account is directly from within the GetNear app. Follow these steps:

Go to your Profile tab

Open the GetNear app and tap the Profile icon in the bottom navigation bar.

Open "Privacy & Security"

In your Profile, scroll to the Account & Settings section and tap Privacy & Security.

Tap "Delete Account"

Under the Account Management section inside Privacy & Security, tap the Delete Account button. This option is always available regardless of your role (Buyer or Seller).

Verify your identity

To confirm it's you, the app will ask you to verify based on how your account was created:

Signed up with Google

You'll be prompted to select and re-authenticate with your Google account.

Signed up with Email

You'll be asked to enter your account password to confirm deletion.

Once verified, your account is permanently deleted and you'll be signed out immediately. Deletion completes within 30 days.

This action is irreversible. Once your deletion is confirmed, your account cannot be recovered. Active inquiries will be closed and your seller profile (if applicable) will be removed immediately.

Alternative Method

Request Deletion by Email

If you cannot access the app (e.g. lost device, forgotten password), you can request account deletion by email.

INCLUDE IN YOUR EMAIL:

  • Your registered email address
  • Your registered phone number (last 4 digits are sufficient)
  • Your role on the platform (Buyer or Seller)
  • A statement confirming you wish to permanently delete your account

We will verify your identity and process the deletion within 7 business days. A confirmation email will be sent once your account has been deleted.

Data Deletion

What Gets Deleted

Upon confirmed deletion, the following data is permanently and irreversibly removed from all GetNear systems within 30 days:

Firebase Authentication account and credentials

Your user profile (name, email, phone, role)
🗑️
Seller profile and all shop data (if applicable)
🗑️
All inquiries you created as a Buyer
🗑️
All responses you submitted as a Seller
🗑️
Shop photos and product images (Firebase Storage)
🗑️
FCM device token and notification history
🗑️
Blood donation donor registration (if enrolled)
🗑️
Visit confirmation and deal tracking records
🗑️
Reports you submitted against other users

Temporarily Retained After Deletion

In limited circumstances, certain data is retained for a defined period after deletion:

Retained 30 daysReports filed against your account — for platform integrity and dispute resolution
Retained 90 daysAdmin audit trail entries — required by platform governance policy
14 months (Google)Firebase Analytics events — retained by Google in anonymised, aggregated form only
90 days (Google)Crashlytics logs — device info and error data only; not linked to your identity post-deletion

All retained data is inaccessible to other users and is kept solely for legal and safety purposes.

Before You Delete

Please be aware of these consequences before confirming deletion:
